I attended a two-day workshop put on bt the BC chapter of the SDA with Jason Pollen.
I have always admired his hard work in the design and textile field, so thought what a great opportunity this would be to glean some knowledge from such a master.
It did not dissappoint.
Although workshops do not usually produce great works of art, they do inspire and motivate one to go home and springboard from the knowledge learned at the event.
We worked on heavy canvas with 'Lyra' graphite pencils in water soluable and non. Using bold strokes to start , then more refined ideas to complete the excercises.
We then used Acrylic Inks to add colour and finally fabric snippets and stitch to enrich and add texture.
So here are a few pictures of my efforts whilst there and I will post any furhter works that come from this technique.

Story
The crows were trying to tell me about the racoon raiding the humming bird feeder. So I decided to use them as inspiration for my next piece of work. This is a watercolour of the messenger crow!

This is done using Acrylics as a 'carrying' medium for texture and images.

Here are some more images from my recent encaustic experiments. I am really enjoying this medium.
