Castle Walls

Story

We all have hang-ups and taboos that eventually seem trivial as we mature and see the bigger picture of the world and how we fit into it. Things and events that devastated us and made us cringe at remembering them suddenly seem amusing and insignificant. This container is a representation of such events. The structure is crumbling and revealing all those well submerged embarrassing moments.

Techniques

Layers of synthetic felt were painted with the ‘distorted circle and square’ motif and used as a resist when burning and distressing the surface. The whole vessel was then constructed by ‘welding’ the piece together with a heat tool. Surface stitching added by hand at the end.
